OHS Parent Association

The Mission of Ottawa Hills Schools Parent Association

Ottawa Hills Schools Parent Association is a support group for the Ottawa Hills schools. Its three main purposes are: 1) to raise money to enrich student life through programs and events; 2) build stronger community loyalty; and 3) work constructively with the administration, faculty and parents by providing a forum for the interchange of information, opinions, and ideas.



About the OHS Parent Association

It’s amazing what can happen when we all work together on behalf of a common goal. That’s what has been happening since April when members of the Mothers Support Group (MSG) and the Parent Teacher Organization (PTO) voted to consolidate the two organizations and their activities. Effective July 1, 2010, the organization officially began doing business as the Ottawa Hills Schools Parent Association.

A transition committee has been working on details, including bylaws, protocols, and procedures. It was decided by the group that there would be no membership fee this first year; however, we are asking everyone who wishes to be a member to complete the application on the back of this letter. Membership is open to all Ottawa Hills Schools (OHS) parents and legal guardians.

In addition, membership is open to any teacher, administrator, or staff person employed by OH Local School District who is supportive of the mission of the OHS Parent Association and completes a membership application.

It is our fervent hope that you will work with us on furthering our mission of raising funds to enrich student life through program and events; building stronger community loyalty; and, working together with the administration, faculty, staff and parents of OHS by providing a forum for the interchange of information, opinions, and ideas.

If you have any questions, or wish to get more involved, please contact a member of the executive committee listed below. We are very excited to begin our work as the OHS Parent Association and look forward to your support and participation.

Membership meetings are held once a month at least 8 times during the school year. Dates, times, and locations of meetings will be published in the weekly email update and in the school calendar. Only members of OHS Parent Association may hold office, make motions, and debate issues. All members are eligible to vote on funding requests, budget, nominations of officers, and bylaw revisions. A majority vote of members present at a meeting is needed to pass an issue. There is no cost for a 2010/2011 Membership.
